How far is the UK Coast to Coast challenge?

Embarking on the UK Coast to Coast virtual challenge covers a distance of 259 kilometers (161 miles), offering a unique opportunity to experience the diverse terrain and rich heritage of the United Kingdom. As you log your kilometers, you'll virtually journey from one coast to the other, passing through picturesque countryside, charming villages, and vibrant cities.

How long would it take to walk the UK Coast to Coast?

Walking the UK Coast to Coast challenge, spanning 259 kilometers (161 miles), depends on your daily step count. If you record 40,000 steps a day, you could complete the journey in approximately 6.5 days. For those averaging 26,000 steps daily, it would take around 10 days. A more leisurely pace of 13,000 steps a day extends the challenge to approximately 20 days. These virtual challenges cater to various fitness levels, allowing participants to enjoy the journey at their preferred pace.

How long would it take to cycle the UK Coast to Coast?

Cycling the UK Coast to Coast challenge, covering 259 kilometers (161 miles), varies based on your daily distance. If you cycle 100 kilometers (62 miles) a day, you could complete the journey in about 2.5 days. At a pace of 70 kilometers (43 miles) daily, the journey extends to around 3.5 days. For those cycling 50 kilometers (31 miles) a day, it would take approximately 5 days. These virtual cycling challenges accommodate different fitness levels and schedules, ensuring an exhilarating experience for all participants.

How can I complete the Challenge?

You can choose from two options here, depending if you want to complete the challenge collaboratively or not. The first option is for each member of your team to individually compete the full challenge, racing each other across the US. The other option is to work as a team to collectively complete the distance. The average distance covered by each team member would be the full challenge distance, divided by the number of team members.

There are then 3 ways to record your activities:

  1. Just daily steps
  2. All distance based activities (e.g. cycling, running, walking)
  3. Our inclusive points system which allows people to do the equivalent amount of exercise as walking the route
